SELANGOR Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has become the main target of attacks at the Hulu Langat Umno divisional meeting.

State Umno chief Noh Omar said the Gombak member of parliament did not care much for the welfare of Selangor folk.

“The Selangor MB is full of political gimmick. I have been told by Gombak residents that their MP has never visited them.

“Selangor has billions of ringgit in its reserves, but never once has he visited his constituents,” he told members of the media after the meeting in Branang.

Noh said he was disappointed with Azmin’s lack of concern for the people’s welfare, especially when it came to health, given that the state had recorded the highest number of dengue cases.

“Health is important. Selangor has the highest number of dengue cases and the most fatalities from the illness.

“It has also recorded the highest number of leptospirosis cases for six months in a row,” said the urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister.

Earlier, he alleged that Azmin’s position as menteri besar was not recognised by PKR.

He added that the appointment of Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as menteri besar in 2008 also saw Azmin being sidelined from holding the post of PKR deputy president.

“Azmin got the post due to the disappointment of others. It was Khalid who became MB after Pakatan Rakyat won big in Selangor.

“What position did Azmin hold in PKR at the time? What does this all mean?

“None of PKR’s supporters, or its leaders, approves of Azmin’s leadership,” said Noh in front of 500 Hulu Langat Umno members today.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, when launching the meeting, called on party members to work together to reclaim Selangor.

He said time was of the essence as the 14th General Election was drawing near, adding that the party’s election machinery must be united to ensure Umno and Barisan Nasional emerged victorious.

“The machinery must be unified. Don’t fight among each other. Forget all our differences and change our old habits, and reclaim Selangor from Pakatan (Harapan),” said Zahid, who made known his disappointment over the state being under opposition rule for the past two election terms. – July 23, 2017.
