THE Kepong incinerator project is frozen, following a meeting between the Housing and Local Government Ministry officials and the Kuala Lumpur Tak Nak Incinerator (KTI) group.
Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said her deputy Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad Shah had been misinformed when he said in Parliament that the project will proceed after a meeting with KTI.
“Yes, it is halted,” she said, in response to a question on the project status, at the launch the Jalur Gemilang campaign, in Kuala Lumpur, today.
“I think (the question) was (erroneously) answered by my deputy (in Parliament) because (it is possible) he does not know about the (latest) development.”
KTI has demanded an explanation from Zuraida over the statement in Parliament that the project would proceed after the group had handed over a memorandum to the ministry.
However, Zuraido said the project was on hold, not cancelled.
“The project will be revisited. It is the best way to solve the rubbish problem in Kepong.”– August 21, 2018.
