MCA part of corrupt BN, so how to check and balance, asks Kit Siang

BARISAN Nasional component party MCA has no right to check and balance Pakatan Harapan until it apologises for BN’s past mistakes, said Lim Kit Siang.
The DAP veteran said MCA was part of a BN government guilty of corruption and improprieties.
“They cannot play the role of check and balance, because they were (part of the previous government guilty of corruption),” Lim said while accompanying Pakatan Harapan candidate Wong Siew Ki to canvass for votes at the Balakong new village in Selangor.
The MCA campaign pitch in the by-election is that it wants to provide check and balance for the PH administration.
For MCA to turn over a new leaf, Lim said, the party must condemn Umno’s improprieties and former prime minister Najib Razak for the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.
He added that PH is focused on eradicating the corrupt culture built by BN over the past six decades in the civil service, which is more important than MCA’s check-and-balance talk.
MCA is urging voters in the Balakong by-election to add another opposition representative in the Selangor state assembly and criticising PH for its failure to fulfil all of its 100-day promises.
Wong earlier rebutted MCA and said that the four coalition parties in PH are already providing a healthy check and balance against each other. “I’m glad that MCA has finally caught up with the concept of check and balance. A bit late.
“But, I don’t think they understand how PH works. Our legislators scold each other. No party is superior. Everyone is equal.
“Anyone who does something wrong will be reprimanded. We are not like Barisan Nasional (where Umno is supreme),” Wong said at her maiden ceramah in Taman Sri Bahagia, Cheras Batu 9, on Saturday. – August 22, 2018.
