THE three military officers serving former defence minister Hishamuddin Hussien on the side are back at their rightful posts in the army and awaiting disciplinary action.
“They are back on duty. We are taking action (against them),” Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said at a press conference today.
The armed forces confirmed over the weekend that the special forces’ escort services for Hishammuddin ended immediately after the May 9 general election.
In a statement, the army said it would take stern action against military officers found carrying out unauthorised duties.
News site Malaysiakini, quoting sources, said last week that two Navy special operation forces (Paskal) personnel and a commando were still in the service of Hishammuddin and were receiving double salaries.
Hishammuddin had explained that the officers were serving him a temporary basis and that he had offered to hire them full time, as they had been protecting him and his family from the day he became defence minister in 2013.
The two Paskal officers are on active duty until 2020 and 2021, respectively. – August 28, 2018.
