MALAYSIA, under the Pakatan Harapan government, is set to become a republic, Umno’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman told a Malay rights rally in Pasir Salak, Perak, tonight.
He repeated the Malay party’s narrative that PH’s DAP was the enemy of Malays and Islam, and now that it was in power, it would seek to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Malay rulers.
“They have incited the people to hate the Agong. This is their aim. Especially DAP.
“DAP is the enemy of Malays and Islam. They want to start a system without kings. They want to establish a republic like Singapore,” the Umno Supreme Council member told some 5,000 people at the Himpunan Bangkit Melayu rally.
Tajuddin, who is also Pasir Salak MP, said he was Malay first and Malaysian second.
“I am Malay, this is Malay land. I am Malay first, I am Malaysian second.”
He said the PH government comprised DAP ministers who were sidelining Malay rights.
“In the government of the day, more than half of ministerial positions are held by non-Malays, non-Muslims. Half of the government is a DAP government.”
There are 17 Malay-Muslim ministers and 10 non-Malays in Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s 27-member cabinet, excluding himself and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Tajuddin warned “liberal” Malays not to forsake their race.
He also called on rival Malay-Muslim party PAS to defend the community’s rights.
“The same goes with PAS Malays… don’t be arrogant. This is not the time.
“We need to show that Malays are united, we need to defend our rights. We are the majority in the country. There is no power that can defeat us.”
Among the leaders present were Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa, Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam and Sungai Besar chief Jamal Md Yunos. – September 1, 2018.
