WHAT do politicians do if both are in the same court complex at the same time? For Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yakob, it was a chance to catch up despite being political foes with jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

But his attempt to meet Anwar failed as the PKR leader was in a different court room in the Jalan Duta court complex.

“I am here for the court session, he is here for his court session, what is wrong with it? Not like I want to change (political) party,” he said after his failed attempt to meet Anwar this afternoon.

Adnan was walking towards the bank of lifts when he made a stop and walked into a witness room guarded by Prison Department officers, only to be told that Anwar was on the other room.

The Umno politician changed his mind and decided to leave.

He was in court for his defamation suit against the Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia. Both parties agreed to out of court settlement while Anwar was in the same court complex for his defamation suit against Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Anwar was once an Umno member and was appointed as deputy prime minister in 1993 when Dr Mahathir Mohamad was in power.

In 1998, Anwar was sacked from the Cabinet and party and thrown into jail after being found guilty of corruption and sodomy.

Dr Mahathir and Anwar are now back to working together this year under the flag of Pakatan Harapan, an opposition coalition that wants to contest and defeat the ruling Barisan Nasional government and Prime Minister Najib Razak. – August 7, 2017.
